The battle axe

A battle axe is an axe that has been used as a combat weapon since ancient times. It was given the most important place in the Viking Age's war equipment, and in the Middle Ages, when the sword was the most common weapon among the upper classes of society, the battle axe was often the weapon of ordinary people, including Norwegian farmers. The battle axe was used by foot soldiers with either a short or a long handle, while horsemen, on the other hand, always had a short-handled battle axe.
