Odin is the oldest, most powerful and foremost of the Æsir in Norse mythology. He is one-eyed and the wisest of the Æsir after he sacrificed an eye to drink from the jötnen Mime's well of knowledge, which lies at the root of Yggdrasil. Odin lives in Valhalla, and from his high seat he can see everything that happens in the world. Sometimes Odin walks among the people - then he wears a wide-brimmed hat and a blue cloak.

The ravens Hugin and Munin usually sit on Odin's shoulders when they are not flying around the world to see what is happening.
