Or was married to the Åsyn woman Siv, who was almost as beautiful as Freya, who was the most beautiful. They had a son Mode and a daughter Trud. Thor also had children with a number of other women, including Magne with the giantess Jernsaksa. Thor and Siv's home in Åsgard is called Bilskirne, which is located in Trudvang (Thor's kingdom in Åsgard, Trudvang means "The home of strength").
Like many other Æsir, he had several roles. He also had the role of god of fertility and god of war. There were many gods of war, including Odin himself, and other well-known gods of fertility were Njord, Frey and Freya. As is customary when you are a god of fertility, he also rules over agriculture.
His mood is known to fluctuate greatly. He is also said to be abrupt, stubborn, and short-tempered.
Thor constantly fought against the Jötns, who were giants who lived in various places, both in the mountains and in the wilderness, in the forest and in the sea. As a weapon, he had the hammer Mjölner, forged by the dwarf Sindre, which hit everything he aimed at, and always returned to his hand. It could also be made large or small, depending on what Thor needed. He also used an iron glove to hold Mjölner, and he had a belt of strength (Megingjord) around his waist.
Thor had a chariot pulled by two goats; Tanngnjost (the one who gnashes his teeth) and Tanngrisne (the one with open spaces between his teeth). He could eat the goats, but they were just as alive the next day, as long as he collected all the bones in their skins afterwards. When he drove across the sky with his chariot, it made a terrible noise, this was called Thor-drønn (thunder). The jötunns were afraid of Thor, so they hid when they heard him.
Thor's servants were named Tjalve (Þjálfi) and Roskva. They were humans, from a poor peasant family. Thor got the two siblings from the farmer after one of Thor's goats became lame, following a thoughtless evening meal at their home.
