On the back is the Runeguard symbol Ægishjálmur from Galdrabók, also called the " helmet of terror ". The runeguard, which consists of eight Viking Age runes or Norse runes, rotating around a central point, was used for spells and protection. It was intended to both create fear in the enemy and strengthen one's own power. The runeguard was written with blood or body fluid on the chest, arm or forehead on the inside of the helmet. Even today, there are people who use this magical symbol for protection and to strengthen their own power.
